Bench remapping, or "bench flashing," involves removing and directly connecting the ECU to a remapping tool on a workbench, providing access to all software areas. It's used for ECUs with security that prevents standard port modifications. Boot remapping, done through the ECU's boot pin, allows for deep software changes without full hardware access, ideal for newer, secure ECUs.
