EGR/DPF/LEGAL Information

EGR System: EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) helps reduce vehicle emissions by recirculating a portion of an engine's exhaust gas back to the engine cylinders. Over time, this system can become clogged, affecting performance and efficiency.
DPF System: DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) systems can also involve the EGR for heating and aid in regenerating the filter. Deleting the EGR can sometimes impair DPF functionality, potentially leading to blockages; however, in many cases, it does not adversely affect DPF regeneration.

Benefits of Deletion:

Enhanced engine power and fuel efficiency.
Reduced replacement costs, such as avoiding the expense of replacing a faulty EGR valve which can cost up to £600.

Legal Considerations:

DPF and EGR Removal: Under UK law, while removing the EGR is not illegal, using a vehicle that does not meet the emission standards it was originally designed to meet is an offence. Similarly, removing a DPF can lead to MOT failures and must be considered carefully.
Sensor and Code Removals: Deleting or disabling sensors like the O2 sensor, or clearing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) without addressing underlying issues, can decrease vehicle efficiency, increase emissions, and may lead to MOT failure.
Adblue System Deletion: Disabling the Adblue system can also result in MOT failures and legal penalties.
