Does engine remapping void my warranty?

Though it's an easy and invisible way of tuning your car, the vast majority of car warranties will be voided by a remap. It's still an alteration of the car after all, which could affect the reliability of your engine beyond the manufacturer's control.

Do i have to let my insurance know that engine remapping is done

You need to tell your insurance provider if your car engine has been remapped. If you don't inform them, it could invalidate your insurance policy.

Is a remap traceable?

In most cases, no. Some manufacturers can tell that something has changed, but not necessarily what. If and when you need to return your vehicle back to the original remap, you will need to do one of the following, depending on your purchase.

Does tuning your ECU affect your insurance?

The installation of an engine control unit (ECU) is a good example of an engine modification that can push your insurance premiums up. All cars are set up at the point of manufacture to control the fuel-air mixture in the engine, which maximises efficiency and power.

Does a remap show up on mot?

If your vehicle is professionally remapped, there should be no risk of it failing the MOT. The main concern could be changes in fuel emissions; however, a professional will be aware of this and can better secure your car's compliance.

Is stage 1 remap worth it?

It basically optimises your car releasing the potential power as it is without the need for any extra hardware or upgrades. A Stage 1 remap is best suited for a standard or moderately modified vehicle. Benefits include: Increased power, torque, throttle and fuel savings.
